Generalized pattern. In hypothetical conditionals, the verb in the apodosis shows prospective aspect and the auxiliary is either izan ‘be’ or*edun ‘have’.

(1) Eguraldi ona egingo balu etorriko ginateke
good weather.ABS make.PROS BA.MOD.(3ABS).3ERG come.PROS 1PL.ABS.be.PST.MOD
‘If there were good weather, we would come.’

Variational pattern. In some varieties the verb in the apodosis takes the form of the verbal root and the auxiliary is either *edin or *ezan).

good weather.ABS make.IPFV BA.MOD.(3ABS).3ERG come 1PL.ABS.edin.PST.MOD
‘If there were good weather, we would come.’
