I am an associate professor at the University of Deusto, in the department of Modern Languages and Basque Studies. In September 2015 I defended my PhD Dissertation entitled Breaking Verbs. From event structure to syntactic categories in Basque at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and the University Bordeaux Montaigne (UBM). Afterwards, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher for one year and a half in UPV/EHU and in the laboratory Structures Formelles du Langage (UMR 7023, CNRS & Paris 8), thanks to a post-doc grant of the Basque Government. In 2017 I won the PhD Extraordinary Award of the University of the Basque Country.
In my dissertation I explored the lexicosyntactic decomposition of Basque verbs and how it is related to the categorization process and their aspect interpretation. In the last years I have been working on the inner decomposition of verbs (and other categories), Voice alternations and their relation to case and agreement.
Research interests
Sintactic Theory, event structure, aspect, lexicalization, Basque, micro-variation, case, ergativity.
